Bagi anda yang meminati dunia sains, mungkin anda tahu bahawa pada tahun 1969, Neil Amstrong menjadi manusia pertama yang menjejakkan kaki di Bulan..Tapi tahukah anda, Neil Amstrong takkan berjaya sampai ke angkasa lepas jika bukan kerana bantuan roket Apollo F-1 yang telah ditemui baru-baru ini di Lautan Atlantik..Nak tahu macam mana rupa fizikal roket bersejarah tersebut, meh usha kat bawah ni..

Sebuah projek bersejarah angkasa lepas yang diketuai dan dibiayai oleh pengasas Amazon.com, Jeff Bezos telah mempunyai berita baik: Misi untuk mencari enjin roket Apollo F-1 yang telah terjatuh ke dalam Lautan Atlantik dan turut dikenali sebagai "F-1 Recovery Project" telah mendapat kejayaan yang luar biasa.

Menurut pihak saintis moden, enjin roket F-1 masih lagi merupakan satu keajaiban moden - dengan satu setengah juta paun kuasa tujahan, 32 Juta kuasa kuda, dan membakar 6,000 paun kerosin gred roket dan cecair oksigen setiap saat. Pada 16 Julai 1969, lima enjin roket jenis F-1 ini dihidupkan, bermakna bermulanya misi bersejarah Apollo 11. Kelima-lima roket ini hanya dibakar untuk beberapa minit sebelum jatuh semula ke Bumi ke Lautan Atlantik seperti yang dirancang pihak NASA. Beberapa hari kemudian, Neil Amstrong menjejakkan kaki ke Bulan.

Nearly one year ago, Jeff Bezos shared with us his plans to recover F-1 engines that helped power Apollo astronauts to the moon in the late 1960s and early 1970s. We share the excitement expressed by Jeff and his team in announcing the recovery of two of the powerful Saturn V first-stage engines from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.This is a historic find and I congratulate the team for its determination and perseverance in the recovery of these important artifacts of our first efforts to send humans beyond Earth orbit.

We look forward to the restoration of these engines by the Bezos team and applaud Jeff’s desire to make these historic artifacts available for public display.
